FindTreatment.gov is a website run by a government agency called SAMHSA (Substance Abuse and Mental
Health Services Administration). It helps people find places that treat addiction and mental health concerns. It is
the main tool the federal government provides to help people find treatment. Other services like the 9-8-8 crisis
line use its information too. FindTreatment.gov lists treatment centers and includes links to their websites so
people can learn what help is available and make an appointment.
In this report, we looked at whether the VA
website links on FindTreatment.gov actually work. We checked the links from the March 2026 version of the database
and confirmed our findings on April 11, 2026.
This is a small part of OPI's research about technology and
addiction. Learn more at the Opioid
